Die Devir Bird! - Short Novel

The thing nobody tells you about mosquitoes is that they don't bite everybody equally.

Some people get one bite.

Some people get two.

And then there's Yehuda.

Mosquitoes don't bite Yehuda.

Mosquitoes subscribe to Yehuda.

If a mosquito lands in the neighborhood, somehow it finds him.

It's like they have Yelp.

"Best blood in town. Great flavor profile. Five stars."

The bedroom was quiet.

The kids were finally asleep.

The house was peaceful.

Yehuda and Maya had exactly twelve minutes before reality came back and ruined everything.

Maybe less.

Parents know this timer.

Nobody sees the timer.

But it's there.

Ticking.

Yehuda and Maya were lying in bed.

Finally alone.

No kids.

No chores.

No laundry.

No emails.

No tiny human suddenly needing water while already holding a cup of water.

Just the two of them.

Yehuda rested on one elbow and looked at Maya.

After all these years, he still looked at her like someone who won the lottery twice.
