The room was already filled with light, far too bright to pretend it was still night.
But Yehuda wasn’t aware of that at all... He was leaning there in complete comfort, half lying down, half sprawled, wearing the expression of a man who had found the most pleasant spot on earth and had absolutely no intention of ever moving again.
Maya, on the other hand, was very aware. Very.
Her eyes were open now. Slowly. Quietly.
“Baby,” she said in a voice that was far too calm.
“Mmm?” he answered without opening his eyes.
“You’re lying on my hair.”
“No, I'm not… oh… oops.”
Maya smiled. It was not a reassuring smile.
“Yes,” she whispered. “For… quite a while.”
“Okay,” he said cautiously. “We can solve this like adults.”
She lifted herself slightly and turned toward him. The light fell over her from a new angle now, soft and revealing. Too close. Her gaze was alive. Playful. And most of all, dangerous.
“No,” she said.“It’s too late for adult solutions.”
